Student Speak - Year 6 Canberra Tour
Students from Year 6 travelled to Canberra on an educational tour of the national capital from Sunday, 21 July to Thursday, 25 July.
Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy.
The students visited old Parliament House, new Parliament House, the Australian Electoral Education Commission, Questacon, Deep Space Centre, Museum of Australian Democracy, National Dinosaur Museum, National Botanic Gardens, National Capital Exhibition and also Government House where students had the rare opportunity to meet the Governor General, Her Excellency the Honourable Sam Mostyn. Students had an opportunity to ask questions, take selfie’s and even play the grand piano in her house.

‘My favourite camp memory was when we got to go on the free fall slide at Questacon. I actually thought I wouldn’t be able to do it but I had a growth mindset and it was really fun and I was proud and glad that I had.’ - Emily W
‘My favourite part of camp was the AIS because of all the sport-related things and also because I won the hardest level of the skiing simulator twice.’ - Oliver L
