PARENT ENGAGEMENT
Parents are the first and primary educators of children. Parents enter a partnership with schools to complement the informal education that takes place in the home, with a formal school-based education. It’s a very special relationship that we share.
The Queensland Independent Schools Parents Network has been established to give parents and carers of children attending independent schools:
- a voice in key education debates;
- a presence at the policy-making tables of State and Federal Governments and peak education bodies; and
- current information on important sector changes.
The Parents Network also draws attention to a range of resources in relation to parent engagement at a school level, acknowledging that every family is different and that each family therefore needs to take away what’s important for their own circumstances. I encourage you to find out more about parent engagement here and to consider following the Queensland Independent Schools Parents Network on Facebook.
Family Network Brochures
A spinner containing a range of Parent Easy Guide brochures is on display in the Parent Lounge. The brochures cover a range of topics including bedwetting, blended families, cyber safety, family break-up, grief and loss, optimism, peer pressure, pocket money, running away, second baby, tantrums and television. These resources are free to Living Faith parents. Please help yourselves.
