Gratitude at Living Faith

The Leadership Team at Living Faith meets each week and we start every meeting with a devotion. The second agenda item is always a ‘check-in’. Our weekly check-in is a model of the Compassionate Systems Framework. A Compassionate Systems check-in is a process where teams have the opportunity to assess the well-being and functionality of their systems or
processes with a focus on empathy and support. Check-ins at the start of our meetings enable us to prioritise care and understanding of and for each other.

At this week’s meeting our check-in was a Gratitude Round which is where we go around the room and have each person share something they’re grateful for, whether related to work or personal life. I am more than happy to share that in the past week I have been very grateful for the positive culture our students have displayed when attending events in the community.

Last Thursday I was able to attend the NISSA (Northern Independent Schools Sporting Association) Track and Field Carnival held at Zammit Oval. There were some amazing individual performances by our students and for the team to finish in second place overall is a great achievement for Living Faith. However, most importantly the encouragement, behaviour and attitude that was displayed by our students was exceptional. The staff who attended the NISSA carnival on Thursday were very proud of our students, as was I. Our staff set and model a wonderful example to our students and are a credit to the school community.

On Friday I was lucky enough to watch our Concert Band perform at the Pine Rivers Show Band Competition. Lots of commitment to early morning rehearsals and hours of practice over a long period of time enabled our Concert Band and String Ensemble to perform to a very high standard to the audience and judges at the Pine Rivers Show. Again, I was grateful for the positive
student culture I witnessed by our music students during the performances on Friday.

I am truly grateful for the wonderful students we have at Living Faith and for the outstanding staff that we have who set high expectations and standards for all our students.

Peace
