Empowering Teachers and Enhancing Learning
Unlocking the power of ongoing research and innovation.
At Living Faith we are committed to the ongoing pursuit of research and innovation knowing that when we empower our teachers in their learning, the student's learning and experience benefit.
This year staff from Living Faith have been involved in a variety of different professional learning and research experiences. One very valuable professional learning experience that some teaching staff have had the opportunity to be involved with are The Lutheran Education Contemporary Learning Tours. This has seen staff have the chance to be immersed in a three-day contemporary school experience in Sydney, Adelaide or Brisbane. The contemporary tours are opportunities for Lutheran educators around Australia to converge on some of Australia’s leading contemporary schools to learn about innovative teaching practices, learning spaces, enabling structures and supportive cultures.
Last Friday, Living Faith hosted a number of educators as part of Lutheran Education’s Brisbane Contemporary Learning Tour. It was a great privilege to share our story and the innovation that happens in learning in our school each and every day.
So, why is ongoing research and innovation among teachers so essential?
1. Enhancing Teaching Strategies:
By staying up-to-date with the latest educational research and innovative teaching methodologies, our teachers gain valuable insights into effective teaching practice. Our teachers continue to look for a variety of ways that they can create dynamic and engaging learning experiences for our students.
2. Personal and Professional Growth:
Just like our students, our teachers thrive when they are challenged and inspired. Engaging in ongoing research and innovation allows them to expand their knowledge base, discover new ideas, and refine their teaching skills. This, in turn, contributes to their personal and professional growth, making them more confident and effective educators.
3. Adapting to Changing Times:
Education is constantly evolving, driven by advances in technology, changes in learning styles and shifts in societal needs. Through ongoing research and innovation, our teachers remain at the forefront of these developments, ensuring that our students receive a relevant and future-focused education.
4. Promoting a Culture of Curiosity:
When teachers actively pursue research and innovation, they become role models for our students. By witnessing their teachers' curiosity and thirst for knowledge, students are inspired to develop their own love for learning, fostering a culture of curiosity and inquiry within our school.
5. Fostering Collaborative Learning Communities:
Research and innovation often involve collaboration with other educators, both within and outside the school. Engaging in research projects and participating in conferences and workshops enable our teachers to connect with peers, exchange ideas and collaborate on shared challenges. These vibrant learning communities enrich our teachers' experiences and bring new and interesting perspectives to our classrooms.
6. Improving Student Outcomes:
Ultimately, the biggest beneficiaries of teachers' ongoing research and innovation are our students. By embracing evidence-based practices, our teachers create a learning environment that promotes the growth of the ‘whole child’ allowing all students at Living Faith to use their God-given gifts to flourish in their world.
We are incredibly proud of our teachers for their unwavering dedication to their profession and their commitment to staying at the forefront of contemporary education.
Their ongoing research and innovation contribute significantly to our school's mission of inspiring minds, illuminating hearts, igniting service…founded on the love of Christ.
