Better Together: The Power of Unity
At Living Faith, our new value, ‘Better Together’, is foundational to a healthy and thriving community. When students, parents and staff work together in unity, we create an environment built on collaboration, inclusiveness and shared purpose. A strong school community ensures that every child feels supported, valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.
Coming together with a shared vision enables challenges to become opportunities for growth. Teamwork fosters innovation, allowing ideas to flourish through open communication and mutual respect. A community-minded approach ensures that no one is left behind and that collective progress benefits everyone. In addition to this, harnessing social intelligence - the ability to navigate interactions with empathy and awareness - is key to a thriving school environment. By actively listening, communicating effectively and recognising each other's strengths, we create an inclusive and supportive culture where everyone feels heard and valued. Overall, a culture of positive teamwork encourages curiosity, problem-solving and confidence; resulting in the overall enhancement of wellbeing and outcomes. At Living Faith, when we work together, whether in the classroom, at home or in community events, we create a culture where students, staff and families thrive. Valuing diverse contributions and supporting one another ensures that Living Faith remains a place of belonging and growth for all.
Living Our Values
At Living Faith, we don’t just teach the value of better together - we live it. One of the most powerful ways we show collaboration is through project based learning and service projects that connect us with each other and the wider community. We also show unity through school wide initiatives and events such as: collaborative teaching and learning, Fellowship Fridays, Hearts of Praise, assemblies, afternoon sport, camps, Gala Days and community events like the recent pool night. Below are some additional areas where students live out the value of better together in the school setting:
Prep
Students are paired with a Year 6 buddy, where they build key relationship skills and form deep, meaningful connections through love, care and guidance. This partnership beautifully represents the essence of better together as the Year 6 students model support, kindness and teamwork, helping their Prep buddies grow in every aspect of their schooling journey. Through these bonds, both students experience the power of unity, learning that by caring for one another, we thrive together.
Year 1
Students visit aged care facilities to connect with older generations, listening to their stories and learning about their challenges. This experience helps students build relationship skills by fostering empathy, respect and care, essential for creating meaningful connections across generations. Through these interactions, students discover the power of being better together, understanding that strong relationships are built through shared experiences and mutual respect, regardless of age.
Year 2
Students engage in a PBL project exploring what makes us a community and how we can strengthen our connections with others. Through collaborative activities, they learn how teamwork, kindness and shared contributions help create a supportive and inclusive environment. By working together on initiatives that benefit their school and local community, they discover that we are always better together when we support and uplift those around us.
Year 3
In PBL, students come together to learn about different cultures, listen to diverse experiences and celebrate the richness of our multicultural community. By embracing each other’s stories and perspectives, they strengthen connections and build unity. Through understanding and collaboration, they create a more inclusive and harmonious world where we are all better together.
Year 4
In PBL, students explore the impact we have on the environment and learn from Indigenous perspectives, which emphasise a deep connection to the land. By working together and embracing Indigenous knowledge, they can develop sustainable practices and take meaningful action to protect nature. Through collaboration, respect and shared responsibility, students build relationships that create positive change for the planet; emphasising we really are better together.
Year 5
In PBL, students engage in the Hub Market project, working together with a shared purpose to create and sell a product for their business. Through active listening, problem-solving and leveraging each other’s strengths, they develop essential teamwork skills while striving toward a common goal. By donating their profits to a chosen charity, students demonstrate how unity, collaboration and collective action can make a meaningful impact on the world around them, highlighting the value of better together.
Year 6
Throughout the year, students engage in a variety of collaborative initiatives, including Prep buddies, leadership teams, musical roles and service-learning projects supporting refugees entering Australia. These experiences foster a culture of teamwork, where students develop empathy, curiosity, problem-solving skills and a strong sense of shared responsibility. By working together across different contexts, they learn to be the best version of themselves - not just for their own growth, but for the collective good of their community.
We look forward to seeing how our students bring 'Better Together’ to life this year - through teamwork, kindness and a spirit of inclusiveness. By working side by side, we create a school where everyone belongs, learns and grows together.
